Jeans bag

Simon had two pairs of jeans that were too big for him.  Having already been on a charity shop trip, I decided to upcycle them instead!  I made a simple bag.

I chopped off the legs just under the back pockets and trimmed off the crotch to make a straight line.  I then turned it inside out and sewed all the way along, leaving some thread at either end and the middle to hand stitch the really tough parts at the seams.  One of the pockets had a hole in so I removed the lining and sewed it closed.  I then trimmed off the inside seam of the legs and tied these on to the belt loops to make the handles.

Pretty easy and simple to do.  Now I need to think about what to do with the other pair!

One of my best friends is beginning teaching in the fall and for her birthday I wanted to send her a package of teachers goodies. I think she'll be teaching elementary/middle school math.

Does anybody have any good recommendations of craft supplies good for the new teacher? She's a pretty crafty gal, and I know that she will probably do that kind of stuff in the classroom setting too.

I was going to get some basics (chalk, dry erase, etc.) but if anyone has anything in mind that would be really special, please comment.

As a reward, I will post some construction details/tutorial for my duct tape purses!
