Hi, everyone! I have a few questions that I'd be delighted if someone could help me with, even with giving a few tips. I've been sewing for a little while now, but I'm still very much a novice. I'm currently planning on undertaking a project that involves making my own patterns and I just need some guidance.

The questions (and pictures) are behind a cut for your benefit.

I'm needing a little bit of help with making this costume, specifically the long sleeve:

(Sorry for lack of better pictures- I can't find a good clear shot from the right.)

The basis of the top I shouldn't have too much trouble with, but it's the long sleeve I'm struggling with. I have two questions:

1. I've been looking for patterns, and I've seen a few I can alter, but I can't find any on their own. Every pattern I've encountered involves having to purchase the entire dress/shirt. Does anyone know where I can find a pattern of the sleeve on its own? I'm sure I could just wrap the material around my arm, pin it, cut it, la-di-da, but I'd rather not. I'd also make the pattern on my own, but I've never done it before. I'm not afraid of practice, but I like having something to work off before I do it myself.

2. I read somewhere that the sleeve appears to be spiral sewn, which is where I've become hesitant on just wrapping the material around my arm/creating a pattern. Is this shirt spiral sewn, and if so, how would I go about making a pattern off it (and if once more you can direct me to a pattern that is similar/can easily be altered, thank you)?

Same dress as above, just without the shirt.

Okay, this question is about layering. As you can see, this dress appears to have several panels and layers. I've already got some experience with panels, and I've found some patterns that are similar to the dress, just without the layers. I'm planning on making patterns for the panels on my own, but I'm just looking for some tips here. How to sew them on, making patterns for them, that sort of thing. I'd be grateful for everything and anything you folks have to offer!

Thank you!
