Jul. 12th, 2008 06:11 pmI've been meaning to make a reusable shopping bag for AGES now. I'm very conscious of my carbon footprint & general impact on the environment. Even though I always reuse plastic shopping bags, I haaaaate taking them. My purse is always huge, but sometimes I'll have something that won't fit in my handbag. Anyway, I've been meaning to make a reusable bag to throw in my purse forever, & I finally got around to it!
I used the tutorial [below] to get the true shopping bag shape & use the awesome pocket to fold it up.

And it's this horrific lobster material, which makes it even better. It's that plastic tablecloth material, so it's SUPER sturdy.
A sneak peek of the lining material.
Folded into the pocket on the front. It's pretty huge though, so it folds up a little bigger than 'usual.' And the material makes it thicker too, but I sacrificed that for how sturdy it is.
Another view of how it folds up.
And I'm obsessed with clutches. I absolutely love them. I used some suede-cloth I got at the thrift store for this one, along with scraps from a dress I made a few weeks ago to give it a little something. It's probably about 6" by 11" wide or so if I had to guess [it's not in front of me right now haha]. And it has stiffiner in between the exterior & lining so it's not totally floppy. The buttons are extras from my stash, & I installed my first successful interior zipper in this one, THANK GOD.
