help with clock making

i read an earlier article from you guys about making a clock out of a cornflake box and i was thinking of making one but with a cigarette box.

i have seen clock kits at craft shops but i was wondering if it is possible to use a clock i currently own cos those clock kits seem to cost a bit. [plus i have an old alarm clock just hanging around]

anyone with any idea how i should go about doing this? thanx in advance.
