Hi! I just joined and I thought I'd introduce myself!

I'm Aerica (19 years old) and I live in Floriduh. My best friend and I are starting our own clothing design company (yay!). We actually began all of the business planning last month - what a nightmare!

I mostly sew and design clothes (obviously) but I have an obsession for making purses out of weird materials. I also make candle holders (made out of tin cans, a la shabby chic), which to toward a non profit organization I set up for the homeless here, in south fl. And, as if I didn't have more things on my plate, I also tried my hand at lip gloss (not perfect, but not bad!)

Anyhoo, I look forward to learning all kinds of neat stuff and meeting new and interesting people! My lj is friends only, but I'll add you if you add me! ^_^

yikes!

hello all,
first let me just say that i've been home from college for about a week and not having the constant internet connection, i've been not so great about keeping up with some of my communities, so if i missed this, and it's already been said, i'm very sorry.
but i was just looking through my friends lists and saw that [livejournal.com profile] judyjudy has been deleted. is there a story, has it moved? is she ok? the reason i ask here is that i met her through this community, and this was her crafting journal, so i'm thinking maybe she will still be on this list or someone who knows whats up will. i'm just curious i guess.. but the journal wil be greatly missed....

also, a real crafty question... my boyfriend and i are not heavy drinkers, but over the year at college i managed to collect quite a few guiness bottle caps, and i saved them because i alwyas thought there should be something i could do with them. i looked thru the FAQ but didnt see anything for bottle caps, so i was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for them or where i could find some ideas for what to do with them! thanks so much!!!

Hey everyone :D I'm guessing there aren't a lot of fellow craftgrrls here from Ottawa, Ontario.. but if you are in the area on May 31st there will be a Punk Rawk Arts and Crafts Sale (hehe.. no, i didn't pick the name ;b)

It's a fundraiser for our upcoming "Ladyfest" this summer, and will most likely be at the Jack Purcell community center (yet to be confirmed) If anyone wants to join in, leave a comment and I'll get y'all the contact info :)

I"m prolly going to be making "Vulva Soaps" ..but i'm having a hard time trying to decide what else i can make in the short time i have till then.

Anyway, thanks for reading xoxxx

Hello! I am new to this community. How cool and inspiring it is!

So today I have been working on this book. And I have gotten to the point where adhesive is necessary. Problem is, I cannot for the life of me get the jar of PVA (glue) open, and it is making me crazy! Usually it is difficult and frustrating, but after awhile I can get it open. So, I banged along the lid with a mallet, jimmied upside the lip of the lid with a butter knife, scissors, and all that, banged the top of the jar on the countertop repeatedly, and the sucker will not budge to unscrew one tiny bit! The jar is a short, squat plastic cylinder wih a plastic lid.

Please, will y'all help me? Thank you!!

I'm sewing a skirt that is made of a very thin material. I really, really like the material (it's almost like a poly/cot blend), but the threads unravel very easily.

Anyone know of a way to prevent the threads from unravelling and destroying the hem? One spin in the washer and it's bound to come apart. :( :(
