Hi everyone,

As a part of the gift for my friend's birthday, my friends and I have decided sign/doodle on a regular cotton t-shirt. My question is, could we just write on the shirt with Sharpie Markers? As in, would it be able to withstand future washes in a washing machine? Has anyone done this before---Or would it perhaps be a better idea to just buy something like a fabric marker to use?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hello sugarpies,

After seeing this post I thought I should post a picture of the Valentine's Day card that I made for my boyfriend. I know it is messy, but I had no glue so I have to use scotch tape!

I made him a word search (since he loves them so much) on my computer for the inside of the card - and damn it took a long time! I didn't like any of the templates online, so I made my own in Corel Wordperfect. I set the page to grid, like graph paper, and typed in each letter. The tough bit was filling the leftover spaces with letters to spell out the message! And of course each time I inserted a new leter, I had to shift every other one in that line back into place. Then I hit "print screen" and brought the image into MS Paint so I could just crop out the grid part where all of the words were. I saved that image and opened a new WordPerfect document, turning the page horizontally and dividing it in two so I could place the word search onto what would be the right side of the card when opened. Then I imported the image, typed out the list of words to find (yes I'd been keeping track as I made the word search!), and printed it. Then I made the collage on the front. I put SO MUCH time into that word search, haha. AND he wasn't even that impressed! He came to visit me since we were going to Cua for my reading week, and I don't think that he did the wordsearch until about half way through the week. I thought he'd have liked to have something to do on the plane, but nooo.

Whew, sorry for all those words!

A very edited version of a much longer post in my LJ. Apparently Rockford is the home of sock monkeys, and they were invented by a man who ran a machine-knitting factory up there. People today still make sock monkeys out of machine-knitted socks of a certain type. If you want to see more pictures you can check out my own LJ.

more than you ever needed to know about sock monkeys and the Rockford machine knitting industry )

hey everybody, i've got a question for you. Does anybody know of any good sites that sell red brass wire and brass findings. i want to make some vintage/antique looking jewelry but i can't find any sites that sell it. i'm also looking for gun metal chains and findings such as ball chain and earring hooks.

So, what do you fine ladies do when your spray paint can clogs?

I've rinsed the nozzle.
And I've been soaking it in water for a few hours.
I'm hoping it works- but if it doesn't, any suggestions?

The back of the can simply states, "clean the nozzle"! Lame.

Edit:
It worked! It was odd...but I twisted around the nozzle and it worked as long as it was in a certain spot (no markings that it was supposed to be in a certain position or anything...weird). And dang- I forgot to do the turny upside down thingy again! [grumbles]

Thanks for the suggestions though, girls! I may need them later or someone else may need them!

This is my first iPod cozy, and it won't be the last! I used the fabric samples from http://www.distinctivefabric.com/. Thanks to whoever gave me that link! The outside is pink fur on one side and white fur on the other. The inside is some super soft cream velour. I think it kind of looks like a mouse!

My journal was just a plain black compisition book, and it was quite boring. So I got to work.
Don't worry. This isn't nearly as long as my last entry. )

Hi, looking for a bit of advice here. This weekend I made file boxes with photo collages on them and mounted the photos with double-sided tape. Pretty good for getting them to stay while I figure out where I want to put them, but not so good as a long-term solution. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to how to make them stay? I am considering clear contact paper or some kind of laquer...

Hi, this is my first actual post here, but unfortunately, it's not something I've created. I have a question about how to bind a journal in a specific way. I recently bought this really awesome journal from Borders because I'm a journal freak, but it was nearly $20. I think that I could make more myself, but I can't figure out how to do the binding like they did. I like it because there are sections of paper that are folded together and it lays relatively flat. Here are some pictures ) that might give you an idea of what I'm talking about. My question is does anybody know how to do this who can tell me, or can you show me where I can find a tutorial on how to do this please? Thank you very much!

i've been loving all the monsters everyone's making, but i didn't really feel the need to whip one out until tonight. my boyfriend and i just broke up yesterday, i'm stuck in my dorm with none of the comforts of home, and my hands need to be occuped 24/7 so they stay off his speed dial button on my cell.

so here's my first monster.
