iPod cozy

I made this way back in the beginning of May, but didn't get to post it here in [community profile] craftgrrl. I needed something to protect my  iPod, but the really nice cases are too much for my taste. So,
It took me about an hour and a half, though it would have been shorter if I wasn't on LJ at the same time. =)

Power-up Baby Dress

I completed this dress today for my daughter.
I used a pattern from HGTV.com, and added my own touches.

Feedback would be fab! Wink

Silly Hats

As I was teaching myself how to make amigurumi creatures, I started getting inspired to expand the technique. I just finished up 2 of my latest creations, and I'm so excited about how they turned out!

Aliens and Aviators! )

The pictures are not of the highest quality, I took them with my built-in webcam because I just couldn't bear having to dig out my digital camera, taking the pictures, uploading them, and THEN FINALLY getting to show them off. Instant gratification is my BFF.

Um, yeah. So yay! Hats!

Robot Girls Run in the Summer Sun. =)

I just finished a new bag, this way has loads and loads of pockets to keep all your stuff. I'm so loving this bag, it goes way beyond the lining of the other bags. I used two different prints but both have the heart theme on them.

Kittens And Mittens (hurrah for things that rhyme!)

For the longest time I was constantly saying "Oh, I need to knit some mittens. I should really knit some mittens. I have like a hundred different patterns for mittens, I should really make a pair."

And finally I did. And then also a kitten.

The mittens are my pattern,(but it's pretty basic, I'm not exactly The Mitten Innovator Extrodinaire) but the kitten is someone else's from the internet somewhere.

let's put the cut in here before I go off and blabber even further )

doggie dress!

I'm not one of those people who carry my dog around in a purse, push her in a stroller, or dress her up when it's not cold outside, but I had to do this.

We were getting some dog food at the pet store the other day, and I found these adorable little gingham halter sundresses for dogs. Realizing it would just be a novelty, I didn't get one, and upon seeing them, my mom said, "Psh, you could make that!"

So I did!

Take a looksie? )

How to make a pendant in clay

I'm not sure how much use it is but I've seen the question on the community before: How to add a hanger to my clay xyz. This is one way and I was writing it up for my site-blog so I figured I'd toss it over here. It's a technique I use a lot for my 'fast' pendants at craft sales but you could add it to your transfer / decoupage clay pendant (those seem popular now).

Disney Lunch Box

I bought a plain metal lunch box and turned it into my sister's birthday and graduation gift.
I decopaged a buttload of pictures onto it. Buttload is a very technical term XD

I've actually added a couple more pictures to the lunch box, but I haven't taken snapshots yet. Here is what I took before the final touches.

space saving craftiness...

Since everyone enjoyed my pot rack so much, I thought I would share some other kitchen space saving type things...

question about acrylic painting

I don't know anything about painting but I'm hoping to try my hand at it and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what it is you use to get the raised lines look that you see in things like this painting:

ETA: Figured it out--GESSO!

And what is the process? Do you paint that medium on first and then paint over it?

Many thanks!
