Since I teach and I am out of school for the summer, I have been crafting my little heart out. Here are some pictures of the past few things I have been working on...

I've decided to do the face-up on my doll. (was too busy to start it but I have the time now) I mentioned this before
and received some very helpful tips from the people here at craftgrrl.

I have sprayed my doll with Mr. Super Clear. My question is, if I  make a mistake and remove it with thinner, will the
MSC be removed  from that area as well?
If that is the case I am wondering how to respray that area if I am not ready to give the face its final coat of MSC.
I thought of covering the rest of the face with a few layers of tissue paper but if anyone has a better solution
please let me know.

Thank-you!

I've been meaning to make a reusable shopping bag for AGES now. I'm very conscious of my carbon footprint & general impact on the environment. Even though I always reuse plastic shopping bags, I haaaaate taking them. My purse is always huge, but sometimes I'll have something that won't fit in my handbag. Anyway, I've been meaning to make a reusable bag to throw in my purse forever, & I finally got around to it!

I used the tutorial [below] to get the true shopping bag shape & use the awesome pocket to fold it up.

My friend Holly introduced me to the most amazingly inexpensive fabric place ever. It took up three buildings- enormous! The only downside was having to sort through piles of bolts of fabric, but I guess that's not really a downside.

Anthro-worthy

Both the pretty sheer fabric and the under layer were $2.00/yd, but somehow I ended up getting a discount and paying $1.50/yd. The lady had a very heavy accent, so I couldn't understand what it was for. Not complaining though. Oh, and the zipper was $.75.

For the bodice, I modified a Vintage Vogue pattern slightly, and then ended up modifying it more because though my measurements were pretty close to the ones on the back, it thought I had huge boobs. The bottom is just two layers of donut, so that the skirt can be full for swing dancing. There is also a bow, because every pretty dress needs a bow.

I've had this set planned out for a little bit but I finally went and bought some more chain to finish it off.

Story time!!! (Don't worry, it's short)

I was sitting in English one day when my friend plopped down in the desk next to me and moaned "kaaaattt, design a prom dress for me! I can't find any that I like (or something along those lines)".

"I can make it."

"REALLY?!?"

"yeah, sure. I'm not really doing anything else for the next three months".

 AND SO...

So Lowes was having an outdoor sale the other day, and I was able to pick up a ton of tiles (both small and medium sized) for pretty cheap. I really want to do some collages on them, and maybe turn the small ones into pendants (they are lightweight), however I was wondering if anyone knew if mod podge or something similar would be the right adhesive to use on it?

I think we just need to start using the acronym SFTO...I always feel weird saying "Sorry for text only!" because, well, text is fun too. I like writing, I like reading, ergo I like text. It would be an interesting modern-art-ish experiment to do a large blogging site that contained only pictures and no text, but in the mean time...there's nothing wrong with a little text post.

I have a question...

Has anyone found a crafty solution to all of those cords people accumulate? Right now, I have a cell charger, three mp3-to-computer cords (why 3? long story), two camera-to-computer cords, one camera-to-tv cord, several spare ethernet cables...

I don't have a lot of desk or wall space, so I'm not sure that a rack would be the best solution, but I'm not sure about anything else?

1) Small strips of fabric with velcro? So I could roll the cords up and put the strip around them? Then I could just toss them in a basket or a drawer. I could even embroider the strips with the names of cords they are meant to hold...

2) Something similar to those makeup/paintbrushes/whatever caddies? You know, those things that look about like a rectangle, with straps or pockets all along one side, then you put your makeup/paintbrushes/etc in it and roll it up? Again, I would be folding the cords up. (Do those caddies generally have interfacing, and if so, what weight/kind?)

3) Any other ideas?
