Need Some Input

I've been working quite a bit with precious metal clay. It is a .999 silver after it is fired with a torch. I made the pendant below which is suppose to be an octopus. I dropped it and one of the legs broke off. So, it is a seven legged octopus or something else. I keep thinking it looks like the monster in Alien. I'm not sure what to do to make it seem more octopus like. Thoughts?

Sewing Denim

Hey everyone!
A few years back, I acquired denim squares to make a jean quilt with. I have never quilted in my life, and I don't have the slightest idea where to start. I do know how to sew, but as far as backing, I'm clueless!
How do i make the backing and the denim layer stay together?
I would rather not join a quilting community, but if any of you have an tips, or websites to recommend, please do!
