hi, this is my first post. be nice! i made these coffins back in july for a friends birthday party. i made the design myself, with a ruler and a calulator. i used cheap particle board and a table saw to cut the wood. then i used liquid nails, and finishing nails to put them together. and i got some hinges at the hardware store (this was a pain in the ass, you'd be surprised how hard it was to find the right hinges.)

then, i painted them with a flat latex black on the outside. when i was done, one coffin got a layer of batting, clear vinyl, and then red fabric on the top lid as well as the inside of the coffin. i just used a staple gun for that, you can see how its a little screwed up on the top, but my cat attacked it.

for the other coffin, i printed out 7 million pictures onto regular paper, got a huge tub of mod podge, and went at it. it took hours. finally, everything was coated with polyeurethane.

the only problem i had was on the places that i was careless with my decoupaging, the polyeurethane got underneath the picture and turned it yellow. other than that they came out pretty cool. they didnt take very long either, maybe a good solid 20 hours for 2, 4 foot coffins. i however, was covered with paint, polyeurethane, mod podge and staple cuts. hehe. i still have them. dont know what to do with them though.

anyway, this is really wordy. on to the pictures.
