hi everyone.

i'm hoping to get some feedback for a gift i want to make for my mother. she had a heart attack on tuesday, and i want to do something to show her how much i love her. now, i already know what i want to make her...i'd just like to see if anyone has had experience with the type of thing i want to do.

my mom is a quilting FIEND, and i want to make her a little wall quilt. because i have such a perverted sense of humor (which she loves about me), i want to transfer the hospital x-rays and internal probe shots of her heart to fabric and make the quilt out of that. now my question is: how do i scan the x-rays to make the transfers? i've tried just using my regular ol' scanner, but it's just coming out black.

has anyone tried scanning x-rays or transparencies or anything like that? how did you do it, and what kind of success did you have?
