I want to thank everyone for the advice about what to do with all of the Beanie Babies I had. I opted to try making one Beanie into a small purse. I think it turned out cute, and I plan on making some more for friends and family. Any other Beanies left will probably be donated to a shelter or hospital.

This was really simple to make. First, you need to choose a Beanie whose shape lends itself well to being converted into a purse - preferably some kind of four-legged animal with a long back and a lot of belly storage space, heh. You also need something that has a seam along the back, so you have a good spot for the opening. Next, you use a seam ripper to open up a hole in the back. I took some fleece (any fabric would work, really), cut a rectangle (I just eyeballed the size of the space I had to work with) and sewed up two of the sides. Then, you measure out a length of ribbon or any other handle material (I used to make grosgrain ribbon belts, so I just recycled one that I hadn't been able to sell), measure out a length of zipper, and pin everything into place. Then you just sew it all together (I sewed it by hand). It's kind of small, but I can cram my ID and credit cards in there if I really try. :)
