Craftiness Abounds...
I made a couple of scores last week in two of the upscale neighborhoods I work in. I found an Adirondack chair in Sunset Beach that someone was throwing away just because most of the varnish had peeled off. Brought it home, and it's solid as a rock and comphy as hell. I just need to sand it a little bit on the sides, and back to get rid of the last of the varnish, and fill a couple of small nail holes with wood putty. I've been looking for wallpaper for my doll "house", so my first fabulous idea was to wallpaper the Adirondack chair and then lacquer the whole thing, but now I'm thinking I will create some stencils of baroque wallpaper. So far I haven't found a pattern I like. So I need you help for suggestions and links… ;)
I'm always looking around for cute ideas for the garden and a while back I saw a headboard and footboard in someone's front yard... it took me half a second to get that it was a Flower Bed! Very cute, it was slatted and they even had sweet peas growing on the foot and headboards. Yeah, cute. But not something I'd probably do at home. Then Jake came home and told me about a headboard he saw. Said he thought it looked like an antique so I thought I'd go check it out. It wasn't an antique but it's really neat looking so we took it. I've decided to make it into a bench and paint the whole thing a pale, dreamy blue and put it in the white garden surrounded by potted ivy and gardenia, etc. When we move, I plan to make a pebble mosaic for it to sit on.
And! My grapevine produced lots of grapes this year. They were super sweet as you bit into them and then they turned incredibly sour. I composted most of them. But it also produced a mass of
thick cool looking vines, and as pruning time approaches I am brainstorming ideas for ways to use them. So far most of my ideas are pretty obvious... trellises... bean and pea teepees... picture frames… Of course, there are always wreaths. But I'm really not a wreath girl. Again, I need your suggestions!! You guys are crafty as hell, so you ought to be able to come up with some good stuff!
Much to do!
I'm looking so forward to the slow season this year!
