From a little girl dress to a big girl skirt
So several years ago I bought a cute little dress at a thriftstore hoping it might fit....it of course....didn't.
So I hung onto it.
I tried to sell it, but while cute it just wasn't cute enough.
But I couldn't just give it back to the goodwill since I adored the fabric.
Yesterday inspiration struck me, this morning I went into action....

I started with a child's party overdress (seethru without any sort of liner)
Pretty standard, puffy short sleeves, empire waist, gathered skirt.
(Sorry I don't have a picture...I need to remember to take *before* pictures)
3ish hours later here's what I ended with:
Fully lined in a grey lining material I had lying around, 6 box pleats throughout, hidden zipper, hook & eye waist closure.

The front.....

Da back.
I had originally started writing a how to on this skirt...then realised I actually did quite a few complex things (such as how do you describe how to make the back slitty thing without completely losing someone? And forget about trying to get into box pleating and how to figure out how many pleats go where, divided by what and then the other to figure out how far away they need to be......)
Anyways.....I like it.....and it's of far more use to me than a little girl's dress.....I still have the sleeves...maybe I can make something out of those......
K.
Byenow!
*ps* Thanks you all ya'll who have said such nice things about the stuff I've made in the past.
X-posted just cuz
