e-z curtains

hi all.
i'm new here, but i've lurked forever -- and then i finally got myself a livejournal, so now i can post.
so, here's my question:
i'm moving into a new house and the other day i accidently broke the cheap-ass curtains off the window (whoops). so i figure i'll just sew up some new ones, but i don't want anything special. all i want to do is put a rod through two pieces of long fabric (and the fabric will hang from the rod as curtains). because the fabric i have is slightly mesh-y, i want to make the curtains really scrunchy, so that people can't see through my window when i'm naked. how can i do this? should i just create a pattern at the top of the fabric and weave the rod in and out, and then scrunch it up? but then how do i sew the fabric at the ends to make sure that the two sheets don't just separate away from each other?

thanks, guys. any help would be much appreciated, because i don't think this should be this confusing.
