Greetings to all! I'm new to the community.

I recently discovered the Bead Emporium shop in downtown Barrie, and as a result, have become addicted to making my own beaded jewellery. I've only made three necklaces so far, one for myself, another I gave to my mom, and a third I will be giving Mom for Mother's Day.

This is the first necklace I made. It is choker-length with a couple of different types of pink acrylic beads. The purplish-gold "swirlies" are there for accents. Rainbow-y crystal beads have been added for sparkle. The main focus of the necklace is supposed to be the three bumpy multi-coloured handmade beads at the bottom-centre. I absolutely adore this necklace and wear it all the time!

This second choker is made of shiny pink acrylic beads mixed with pale pink oblong beads and shiny silver beads. The bead spacing is a little demented and I wasn't very happy with it. My mother, however, loved it and so I gave it to her. :)

As far as I'm concerned, this is my best effort yet. This choker-length necklace is a gift for my mom for Mother's Day. Obviously, she hasn't seen it yet. :) The chain is made up of different-sized acrylic beads in different shades of blue. White rainbow-y crystals have been interspersed for a highlight effect. The centrepiece of the necklace is an oblong of blue stained glass framed by two blue cats-eye beads. The piece of blue stained glass came from a pair of earrings I bought when I was 10. I wore them for a few years and then, when my taste changed and I thought they weren't "cool" anymore, I threw them in a jewellery box - where they laid for the next 15 years or so! I just re-discovered them last year and began wearing them again. However, the clasp on one earring broke! I kept them anyway, thinking I'd fix them somehow. That's when I had the idea to use one of them to make Mom a gorgeous necklace for Mother's Day. I'll probably use the other to make a necklace for myself.

A shot of all three necklaces together. Sorry about the crappy photos!

On a slightly different note......Here is a recent garage-sale find!

It's a child's "play" medical bag. It was filled with all kinds of plastic medical instruments. I dumped the instruments out and bought the bag for 25 cents.

Say hello to my new make-up bag!
