Fabric stores in NYC
So, I'm in need of some crafting help. I'm living in NYC for the summer, and while I attempted to not bring all my craft supplies with me (I confined myself to 1 grocery bag of fabric & yarn, and no sewing machine) I've already made one dress my hand and I'm almost done with a second (and I've lived here for 13 days)
That brings me to my question--can anyone recommend me some non-fancy-pants fabric stores in Manhattan? I'm used to JoAnn's, but the nearest one is on Staten Island and I don't know how to get to it. I mostly will just need basics like cheap lining fabric for skirts, and zippers & stuff. So I'm looking for anything remotely similar to JoAnn's in terms of type of selection & pricing, or just any other cool places. Any ideas?
And so this isn't text only, here are pictures of a commission project I did a few weeks ago.
I made a bunch of bags for this band called The Hush Sound to sell on tour this summer. I'm actually really proud of how they turned out.

They have a song called "Sweet Tangerine"

and their new album is called "Like Vines"

and these ones are just pretty (and reversible!) I had no idea how to make a reversible clutch bag so I made one up.
