Gnomey Goodness

So the camp I was going to be with at Burning Man is the Gnome Camp, and I crocheted a few hats for everyone to wear.

Here's a sample (I think I look heinous, but at least the hats look good...) There are only 5 total but I made them in a few colors, including two with a spattering of safety orange. We had a small posse of 4 sitting around Golden Gate park with our conehats on. I think people enjoyed checking us out. They gonna look so gooood on the playa!

pattern:

Make a ring, crochet 6 HDC in ring

1) [2 hdc in next stitch, 1 hdc] repeat around
2) [2 hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc] repeat around
3) [2 hdc in next stitch, 3 hdc] repeat around
4) [2 hdc in next stitch, 4 hdc] repeat around
Do this until you get to about 20 or so hdc between the 2 hdc in one stitch.
Then, crochet around without increasing to make the brim.
Experiment with hdc, dc (longer and floppier), sc (shorter and sturdier) or combos of both.
Also, increase one row, do one row w/o increasing, and alternate to make it a little longer as well.
