Removing the filament and black part of a lightbulb

Hi,

This is my first post, but I've been a lurker for quite some time.

I was fiddling around with a soda tab today..and found a way to remove the black base of a lightbulb (for all those vases.)

1. Take the soda tab and pull up the sides of the circular strip of brownish colored metal so it forms a bowl shape. (There should be a silver dot in the middle of this material.)
2. Use the tab like a bottle opener and pull the raised circular strip completely off. There will be a hole in the center of the black material.
3. Use the point of an automatic pencil and pull(stab) away the material, starting from the center hole.
4. Break the glass inside and pull out the wire. Rinse the bulb to get out remaining glass/white powder.

Viola. Hope it helps.
