decorative lighters?

craftgrrlalright, this is probably a strange question but...
is it safe to paint bic lighters with nail polish/glue things onto them? obviously glue and nail polish are flammable but my thinking is that the flame wouldn't really come into contact with the actual body of the lighter where the polish or glue would be.
or maybe this is just a really bad idea?
