yay for hand sewing!
so this weekend, BOTH of my sewing machines decided to die on me. I was horribly upset, because i just set up my brother's old room as my sewing haven. i was at a loss, and was just sitting around looking at all of my glorious fabrics waiting to be made into something amazing. then i remembered, 'oh yeah. i can hand sew!' so i got out my needles and thread, and went to work.
first, i decided i needed to make myself a pincushion. i have a large supply of felt, and had just bought a large bag of stuffing, so i figured i'd make a pin cushion man! i knew nothing i made in the past few days was going to be serious, or even very well made, but i had a lot of fun doing it. so i made a dead block head man:

yes, essentially the same picture, but he's working those angles!
today, i was incredibly bored, and found an old new kids on the block pillow case that i got from who knows where. i've been itching to sew, so i figured, eh, why not see what i can do with this? i folded it in half, and just started sewing.

i left the pillow case open, so i essentially have two large pockets. i added snaps on both sides, mainly because i wanted to test out my snaps. =] it could also technically be reversible, simply because i don't mind if the seams show and what not. i've already put all of my stuff into it, and used it on an outing this evening with no incident. i think it will hold up pretty well. and everyone loves it. oh! i also added a felt heart pocket on the front. not very functional, but cute nonetheless. these pictures don't do it justice. oh well. i also don't listen to new kids on the block. but i love this bag anyway! haha.
sorry for such a long post, but i was pretty excited about this. i've been on a crafting binge lately, so you'll be hearing from me again very soon! thanks! =]
