MYsanky--painted eggs.
A while ago, I posted questions about eggs that I'd blown clean. I wanted to do Pysanky on them, but at the time, didn't know I should have left the yolk inside, didn't know the technique, didn't have the supplies, etc...
so instead of making the investment and possibly screwing up (not the most secure in my abilities), I decided to paint the eggs.
I cleaned them all with vinegar before beginning and then painted them with acrylic paints. I threaded them with a faux hemp line and beaded them with pony beads. Finally, I sprayed them all down with glossy sealant.
Now, I was originally going to paint them for the Christmas tree (like I did with the walnuts I posted before the weekend) but as I was sitting outside painting them, I was inspired by the Spring weather (it's taken me a little while to post them, ya know?) and got a little carried away...
so now I don't have a clue what I'll do with them now that they're finished.
But at least they look good.

I know. bad pun, right?
anyway, on with the pictures:
First, I painted an Ibis.

and on the back of that egg, I gave him a Scarlet Ibis girlfriend.

Then, I went all nutso.
and taking multiple shots of the ones with more detail (or opposing sides) is a must.
So you know.

ooh, clouds.

[this picture is an example of what happens when you get vinegar in the egg--it bubbles your paint by seeping through the pores of the egg. Very cool to watch, but really annoying to watch it ruin your work!]
awww, a bee.

ladybugs and ants

same egg
my last painted egg that took me a long ass time to finish because I did so much to it:

detailed shot of the swirly sunset. Ooooh, prettttttty.
...
after doing those 6, I stopped for a week or so. Then, I saw someone post a link to a new way of dyeing eggs with plant matter fastened to it with pantyhose so that it would print the eggs... so I tried it.

dunked this one once with the flower and once after the flower was gone.

one of my favorites.

also pretty cool.

I don't know why, but the color started rubbing off of this one.
My absolute favorite one was made with boiled purple cabbage and a thorny plant that grows outside my window.

turned it blue. I LOVE it.
then, just to see what would happen, I poured a little of the yellw onto it.

So. That's it.
Lots of pictures and lots of eggs.
What do you think of them?
and what should I do with them?
Most of them are just greenish yellow because I suck at mixing colors. All I had was yellow and green food coloring. What do you want?
