I've been working with these small, round, clear gems generally used in the bottom of a flower vase. I'm hoping to make jewelry out of them- in the form of a necklace pendant or even as a centerpiece on a ring. I haven't quite figured out how to attach them to a ring or what to add to the gem that will allow me to attach it to a necklace, but I've been brainstorming over the past few weeks. Any ideas would be welcome!
Until then, I'm going to attach mini magnets and give them away as gifts this Christmas. I was in a store today, and saw a small silver tin with 5 various colored and various sized gems with magnets on the back- selling for $7.50. I've experimented with gluing printed paper / magazine cutout words or images / rubber stampings on the flat side of them gem- even used watercolor for a few- and I'm really happy with how they've turned out! I found an old 1940's, faded, 300page Sears catalog I found in my parents storage room, and they make really nice images.
I'll see if I can scan a few in once I get my scanner set up in my new place, and post it at a later time. Until then, I'll be dreaming of ways to turn these gems into jewelry.
