Meh!
I need help and I don't know who to ask :( I am trying to make
This wand:

I'm going to use a wooden dowel for the long part of the wand, but for the rest..I'm clueless. It needs to be sturdy, because I'm going to be carrying it around for 4-5 days at a convention. For the red "eyes" of the wand head, I have rounded disks made of wood, that I'm going to paint and glue on. I'll probably make the "wings" out of craft foam, because they need to be durable. But what about the rest? I'm /clueless/. I tried finding a wooden egg to start the "head" with, but can't find one big enough. I thought to use styrofoam, but I would have to cover it with something to make it sturdier, and I'm afraid to use clay because it wouldn't be terribly sturdy. Between the head of the wand, and the bottom, I'm clueless about what I can do to build a sturdy but accurate/attractive prop. Help??
Can you suggest *anything*? Has anyone done something similar? I have plenty of time to do it.. I just need someplace to begin. =/
