dye and paper mache
Mar. 30th, 2003 02:22 pmok i have a couple of questions that im hoping yall can help me with...
first, i have a cotton tshirt that i tried to dye black a couple of years ago and it didnt really work out(its all splotchy and weird looking) and i just recently found it again and thought i would try dying it again. someone told me i should use color remover first to try to get the old dye out before i dye it again. has anyone used color remover before? how well does it work? and will it remove the original color of the shirt(it was orange)?
second, can i use RIT or some other common dye to dye brown taffeta a different color(probably black)?
third, and unrelated to dying, can i use magazines for paper mache? like instead of newspaper, can i cut up the magazine pages into strips? it seems like the slippery-ness of the pages might cause problems or something, but i thought i would check to see if anyone could tell me one way or the other before i try it and make a huge mess...
