Empty liquor bottles

So I have these old (and empty) liquor bottles (Jack Daniels baby) and I was wanting to do some sort of craft with them. When I googled anything with liquor or craft in it I was always getting lamp DIYs. I'm wanting to do this for a friend (she loves JD) and she was already talking about making her larger bottle into a lamp. So I don't think I want to fool with doing that.

I saw, on pinterest, where someone made a lotion pump out of a bottle. So I might do that with one of them (probably the smaller one).

So I need ideas on what I could do with these. I'm really stumped here. I'd like to be able to keep the label on it because other wise it wouldn't be the same.

Working on some brand new zombie pendants and woke up with horrible nightmares last night about zombies. I have had nightmares influence my artwork but have never had my artwork give me nightmares.

Funny thing is that I watch the tv show "The Walking Dead" and it doesn't bother my dreams.

Don't think this is a good thing.... Can you blame me? He turned out scarier than I planned!

I spent last night customizing a pirate hat, for a steampunk-y pirate costume I'm working on! :)

Letraset fixing advice anyone?

Hi all! I have a random question for y'all. I'm currently making knotted bracelets with lettered beads for fandom friends and am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to permanently fix the lettering? I'm using dry transfers (Letraset and the like) on smooth glass beads. I've tried fixing with PVA/craft glue and artists varnish and while both work, they're not as permanent as I would like them to be.

Here's an example of one of the bracelets so you can get an idea of what I mean.

lightfast microglitter query

Has anyone got any good recommendations for a brand/supplier of microglitter to use for craft projects, that is lightfast?
(The plan would be to mix it with epoxy resin to use as part of an instrument - we don't want it decolorising further down the line after all that effort).

Pendant is hand made from a wonderful strong sturdy and lightweight clay called Creative Paperclay by me and then hand painted with a mix of acrylic and metallic paints.

I bought some new glow in the dark paints and used a new ultra glow in the dark paint on the background (green glow on the moon and some of the stars and blue glow in the dark paint on a few other stars). This is the strongest and longest glowing glow in the dark paint on the market. The green with glow up to 24+ hours and the blue will glow up to 3 hours when charged in the sun, a bright light or with a black light (put pendant in light for about 15 minutes for a good charge).

Took me a lot of time to find the best glow in the dark paints (actually had to return the glow in the dark paints I bought from the first company)and ended up going for even more pricey ones but they ended up being so worth it!

I made this to decorate my area at work for Halloween at the behest of my team lead. I'm quite pleased with how it came out, I have only been crocheting for a few months now. I edited a pattern for Marvin the Robot (from Hitchhikers Guide) in order to do this, I'm not sure how she came out so big. I know I miscounted/stitched some extra rounds or INC where I shouldn't have somewhere because I had to stitch some stuff together at the top that you can't really see now but I made another one after I finished this one and it was so much smaller, much more like the marvin that I made from the pattern. I used a red sharpie on the yarn to make the blood look, it was originally suppose to be a corporate zombie which is why its in black and white but here we are lol. I have a sort of pattern for anyone who wants it but honestly I mostly winged it!

Stretchy Bracelets--Appropriate Beads?

I saw a bracelet on facebook--a stretchy one, that was really cute, but it was 30.00. It had lava beads on it, and a skull bead. I have the exact skull beads here at home, but not lava beads. All my beads are made of stone and glass, but I feel my bracelets could be made to look even better! However, I'm not schooled on making stretchy bracelets, or the weight of lava beads.

So. Can stretchy bracelets be made with heavier beads, like glass and stone? If so, what do I buy as "wire" for that? how does one attach the ends? Tie in a certain way, or what exactly? I'll try to find a tutorial as well.

I admit this is the first time I've seen a stretchy bracelet pass off as relatively good quality (some are really pretty, but you can tell they are very plastic and not all that great, and never seem to be worth very much).

Sorry I'm a little late postin' this up, but here's a blog & project planner for October for you guys to download for free! Oh, and desktop calendars, too. I made the PDF files editable, so you can just keep the folder on your desktop all handy dandy like that. I didn't make a printable version this month, though you could print the pdfs, I wouldn't really advise it because it's not saved with a CMYK color profile. If you don't mind wonky colored prints, then go ahead and print 'em! I personally found that I use the PDF files a lot more because I'm just ALWAYS at my computer, hahaha.

I made scrummy mitts. From this pattern. It's a simple pattern and I've made these mitts before. They take a good evening to make and a good bit of hot tea.

This is how my latest pair turned out. (the brown is yak and the turquoise is tussah silk)

Cute. Fun. Nothing special except... This is the first project I've made from the yarn that I spun myself. Yaaaaaay!

I made a denim flower pin which turned out very nice for a friends birthday. forgot to take a pic. For finishing I sprayed with a little sizing (starch) to help hold the shape. My question is are there any products that would be a
better permanent alternative than sizing.

Dora Star Pocket

Hello! I'm new to the comm and this is my first post. I hope you enjoy it.

A few months ago, my husband and I found a barely-used Dora the Explorer backpack at a car boot sale. Our daughter loved it, but I couldn't help noticing it was missing something - the all-important Star Pocket! I took a notion and decided that I'd try to make one. Here are some pics I took during and after making it.

I forgot to take a picture of the materials I used, but here's a quick list:

* Felt in purple, red, yellow, blue, green, and pink.
* 6in zipper
* Needle and (purple) thread
* Hot glue gun and glue

First I cut the shapes I needed. The star shapes are about 8 inches in diameter and the connecting strip is about 2 inches wide. I attached the zipper to the connecting strip before I sewed it to the star shapes.

One thing you might notice is I actually ended up sewing the wrong side, but, in the end, you can't really tell and my daughter doesn't care, so woohoo! I'll know better for next time.

I made happy little stars to go inside, using the hot glue gun and different coloured felt pieces. She loves to take them up and throw them in the air, shouting "catch them, catch them!"

More glue gun action went into creating the multi-coloured front of the pocket. I also added a loop to the back of the pocket so that I could attach it to a keyring. I then used that to connect it to an open loop on the backpack rather than trying to sew the pocket completely onto it.

Making Prints

I do paintings on stuff like pieces of drywall, or cardboard, or irregularly-shaped stuff like that. If I wanted to make prints of any of these paintings, would there be a way to do it?

Ok, so I've been really wanting to pick up a craft to practice and at the beginning of the year I picked up a knifty knitter roun loom set because I wanted a easy way to make beanies!
I knew that I'd get horribly frustrated trying to teach myself to knit and I don't have any friends/family locally that could teach me how to knit, so the round loom seemed pretty easy.

It has been super easy and I loved the first couple of beanies I made for my brothers.
I've come to a sorta roadblock with yarns. I liked the results I got from using a Red Heart SUper Savor #4 cheapo yarn with a softer(to the touch) yarn like Vanna's Choice #4...I don't know if it was pure luck or what, but the beanie that resulted from that combo was amazing! I just can't seem to get the same result again, so I sit aside everything aside and forgot about it over summer.

Now cooler weather is coming and I want to try it again. So any suggestions on yarns to use for round loom knitting that have given you good results? Someone suggested yarns with a bit of stretch to them, but I tried googling for days before giving up and just purchased the Red Heart to start with.

I've got a gorgeous #6 yarn that I want to try out, but I think I'll either need to purchase another #6(since I prefer beanies with at least 2 strands of yarn) or save it for when I get the loom to make scarves or learn how to knit properly because it definitely doesn't seem to work well with any of the yarns I already have.

Or if anyone has suggestions on a better place to ask, I'll take those too!
