random purse thingy

incident of the badly lit room in the night time... i must practise sewing straight lines... i wanted to do a clutch initially but i didn't plan properly and it ended up being a half fold long-wallet-became-purse sorta bag thingy. first time sewing a button hole and it turned out too big and weird. fabric used was japanese printed cotton. i spent two nights making this "thing"...

I made these 1" pins as a fundraiser for Mercy Corps, motivated also to give FEMA an idea of what people really think of their miserable failings. I don't have the best macro settings on my camera, but the text says FEMA: Federal Eugenicist Murder Agency.

(Check my LJ if you want more information about how to get the buttons.)

I'd be interested to know who else is doing crafts for relief services and what you've come up with!

Travelling to Tennessee, Kentucky, and the Carolinas

We leave this weekend for two weeks. Any ideas/suggestions for cool crafty things to do/be/see? I am particularly into spinning and knitting, but I do enjoy anything well crafted or with a great history. I am happy to hear other ideas about non-crafty things that should not be missed or great places for BBQ.

purse?

Somewhere between June and August of this year, someone posted a picture of a purse they made of vintage fabric their grandmother (I think) gave them. It was a really unique shape but the post didn't want to give a tutorial because they were planning on selling it. They were also very sad to see it go.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I've been looking for a couple days now and just can't seem to find it. I'm trying to make something other than a tote and I remember loving the shape of it so I wanted to take another look for inspiration. Please link if you have any clue of what I'm talking about or you know . . . if you posted it.

button making question

the faq didn't seem to address this at all, but are there any sites that have templates for 1" buttons? not a blank one, but maybe a bunch of button pictures that i can just print out and make buttons from? already sized? does that make sense? :)

thanks guys.

From a little girl dress to a big girl skirt

So several years ago I bought a cute little dress at a thriftstore hoping it might fit....it of course....didn't.
So I hung onto it.
I tried to sell it, but while cute it just wasn't cute enough.
But I couldn't just give it back to the goodwill since I adored the fabric.
Yesterday inspiration struck me, this morning I went into action....

Here's what I came up with..... )

hey everyone :)

i've checked the tutorials and can't find a tutorial on how to make a good quality-looking tutu, or any at all.

if you could either link me to some, as i'm having no luck, that would be great!

thanks in advance.

Hello my vagina friendly ladies! I've been recruited to help produce the Vagina Monlogues this year. As a fashion design major, I've been recruited into makeing our costumes- which consists of a red sash and creating our mascots. Once my mommy sends me my camera, I'll post our V-Brigade (they are so f-ing cool!). Well I wanna make this a vagina saturated as possible, so I want to make one side of the sash red and the other with vagina printed fabric on the other. But, where can I find this vagina printed fabric? Has anyone come across this type of print or am I stuck making it myself? (I don't mind since I have months until then)

Anyone got any ideas where to find vagina printed fabric? Or should I just stamp the image on fabric myself?

Thank you my vagina-lovin' chica!

(PS. I've been crafty lately with the yarn and the crochet hook and the paint brush- I'll have pictures loaded soon!)

Cigar box Audrey Hepburn purse and dinosaur tote

I started college a few weeks ago and luckily don't have a ton of heavy books this semester, so I opted to get something cheaper to carry my stuff in than a backpack. Hobby Lobby had tote bags on sale for a dollar, so I decided to get one and decorate it a bit. Here it is.

I used my dinosaur foam-stamp and then freehanded the RAWR

Over the labor day weekend I used a half off coupon at Michael's (I had a bunch of them) to get this cigar box with bamboo handle. I went to office max and had two pictures of Audrey Hepburn printed off. I thought it turned out nice and the fact that I made a purse for less than three dollars was awesome. I used to spend SO much money buying purses.
