2 questions :D

I promise I have scoured the memories!

My first question....Quite a while ago a young lady had painted her room...with a neon yellow/green and black! She had free-handed some awesome designs in the corner...Could anyone possibly point me in the direction of this post?

Second...I just bought some Aunt Martha Iron On Pencils ... Do I absolutely _Have_ to use the special "aunt martha" brand transfer paper? If not what else can I use?

Thanks a million :)

What I did today...

Today I finished three bags and I made a swanky pillow to match my bed set.

A bunch of images, enjoy! )

Hello. It's my first time posting, very exciting.
I made a chess board purse for my best friend for mother's day (inside joke), who is always letting me know she is more crafty than me.

here are some pictures )

a little help please

this is probably super simple, but how do you use these silly things?  i'm using them on the ends of a cord for a necklace.  i put the cord through the hole, but i can't clamp the thing.  which end do you stick the cord in, how do you clamp it, & how do you get the lobster clasp on.  please & thank you =]

Does anyone know any tutorials for reconstructing t-shirts into zippered hoodies? I looked through the memories, but didn't really find any. I'm sorry if I missed one, though. ^_^;

Making Earings

I love earings! And I want to start making my own but I am allergic to nickel and everywhere I go to get fish-hook like earings they are all made with nickel. Do any of you know where I can go or order fish-hooks or posts to make earings that are made for senstive ears?

Question :

I have some very intricate butterfly stamps I would like to use on fabric. What kind of paint should I use? I want something that is a) permanent and washfast b) NOT SHINY like the fabric paint you get at A C Moore c) opaque even on dark colored fabrics. I tried looking through the stuff on Dharma Trading to scope out the best product, but got kind of overwhelmed. Anyone here got something to recommend from experience?

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!!

http://i-mockery.com/visionary/free-comics.php

On Saturday, May 7th, any and every comic book store in North America worth their salt is going to be giving away free comic books! All you have to do is walk in the front door and they'll hand you a free pack of comic books. It's just that easy! So tread carefully around those oozing puddles of splattered puppy muck and get your ass down to the comic book store!

I posted earlier asking for advice about making a candy bouquet for Mother's Day. I ended up making a vase as opposed to my flower pot idea so that I could paint it at one of those painting places where they glaze it for you...

Anyhow, the bouquet didn't end up working quite as well as I'd have liked, the wire I bought was too thin, but since I needed it done by today and I started working on it at 11 last night, (I'm going to my mother's today and have no time to work on it), I had no time to buy different wire and had to make due. It's the thought that counts anyway, right?

Anyhow, this is what the finished product looks like, not horrible for someone not knowing what they are doing and perhaps the next time I attempt such a think, I'll have better insight:

Question about iron-ons

I looked through the FAQ and didn't see this but I apologize if it's in there somewhere.

I have a cafepress account but the site is so damn expensive I'm not making much money.  I want to learn to silkscreen but in the meantime I am wondering if there are any iron-ons that work really well?  I'm just doing Tees and onesies so I need the iron-ons to work on cotton ( I know most do).  I tried one kind and it came out a little funky but not bad......

Anyone with experience that can recommend a brand will be very much appreciated!

Also, any tips or tricks is great :)

Thanks!

Poster Bag

After Music Monday I had multiple posters left over, so I decided to make some crafts with them. One of these was a bag for me to keep my schoolbooks/phone/iPod/pens etc. in (seeing as I detest bookbags.) So, using a roll of packing tape, a poster, a ruler, and some scissors I came up with this:

+4 )

I absoutely love it, it's ever-so-classy and crafty at the same time. Plus it has a violin on it, who couldn't like a bag with a violin.
I'm also making similar bags out of the music monday trumpet and drumstick posters now for some friends.

My first post, second monster

I just recently re-found this community a few weeks ago, and can't stop reading it and getting ideas. I made my friend a monster for her birthday, then took pictures of him doing stuff and put them in a little book to go with it.

This is sort of a strange question, but has anyone ever made their own ottoman? (I might be spelling this wrong). Any ideas on where I might look to learn how?

Hi All,

I have been lurking for a little while and wanted to say hello and post a couple of things I just finished working on. Here are pictures of the Mother's Day presents I made for my Mom:

A drawstring basket:

(I was inspired by the one at this site.)

And a necklace:

The drawstring basket is about the 5th or 6th thing I have actually sewn in the last 12 years or so, having just started trying to learn to sew again several weeks ago. All in all it wasn't a complete disaster, though there was a lot of ripping out seams as I was figuring out how to do it without a pattern!

The necklace is made to go with a tunic that my Mom is currently quilting for herself. It's reds and blacks and I think the necklace will work out well with it.

I gave them to her today (we celebrated early) and she liked the basket a lot more than I thought she would! It's always a good thing to make your mom happy :).

I want to do more covered baskets, but variations other than the drawstring thing. Anyone know of any good examples out there they can recommend?

9 years old and she is sewing!

Alyson and her first project!
Alyson and her first project!

My daughter of 9 years has learned how to sew on the machine without any help from anyone. :) hehe. her first things she has sewn was today and it was a pillow/mattress and a blanket. The mattress she did with my Mom standing there and then my mom walked away and she decided to make a blanket to go with it. She sewed it then turned it and sewed the top up. Not bad for her first unassisted sewing job.
Now I can give her some of my old fabric and see what her imagination comes up with. :) )

No Ideas

I'm over at my sister's house and she has a box of crafts that she said I could go through and use whatever. I just have no idea what I could possibly make though. She has a bunch of paper twist stuff, some different colors of ribbon, some train and fish shaped beads, a few wooden thimbles and some other little wooden things, a bunch of different colors of lace and I brought some of my craft stuff like a bit of construction paper, pipe cleaner things and paints. So does anyone have any ideas on what I could possibly make with any of this stuff? I'm in a crafty mood but my mind is totally blank. I've looked through the FAQs, a few websites and a craft book but still can't find anything to make with the items I have. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks! <3

advice?

i can't make eyelets/grommets work (the little silver/brass circles). what's the best brand and what's the best way to apply them? i want to make eyelet tape to alter a pair of pants for my daughter and i'm having no joy here. the fabric frays or doesn't catch or the little pieces that are supposed to fan out end up bent funny... i'm already going grey, i don't need more help. sorry there's no pictures of anything cool. coolness is on hold. :p
