I want to start this entry by apologizing for my craptastic picture taking non-skills. But I MUST share! :D

I've been making 1" buttons! First of all, my best friend's birthday is coming up and I wanted to give her a really cool gift. I findally decided to make a "best of summer 2008" gift -- you see, one of the things she and I do during every summer is we go to EVERY major movie that we want to see. We're usually at the theater every weekend. This year has been particularly geektastic, so I took our favorite movies of the summer and made buttons for her:

A little bit more elaboration: the Joker button has the words "Why so serious?" arched over his nose. The middle button has a very scary looking door and the words "Creepy Door Fan Club". This is because my friend and I LOVE horror movies and what we will often do is rent the large meeting room where we work (a library), hook up the InFocus projector and the built-in sound system, and watch 3-4 horror movies on the big screen, in the dark, with the AC cranked to maximum, in comfy office chairs, eating popcorn, and scaring the crap out of each other. And the mark of a good scary movie? The appearance of our favorite "actor", Creepy Door. You know him. He's in every decent scary movie from "Hide and Seek" to "Them/Ils". He's mostly a character actor, but sometimes he can be a screen door... a trap door... even an attic door! ANYWAY... I'm pairing those buttons with two posters -- an Iron Man poster and a Batman poster, and a really cool Joker t-shirt, to basically capture all that was made of win this summer.

Now as I mentioned above, I work at a library -- I'm a teen librarian, actually. And I'm hosting a "Breaking Dawn" (#4 in the Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer) midnight release party this Friday. So I made favors:

Unfortunately, I THOUGHT I had the original jpg files that I used to create these buttons (I design most of my buttons myself in Photoshop), but it turns out I just have Team Edward and the first version of Team Jacob, which isn't nearly as nice as my second version, but anyway, here are those original pictures:

And then here are some random pictures I designed and later made into buttons:

These two I made because at work I jokingly call my best friend (the one who's having a birthday) my minion. Then I got a bunch of teenage volunteer helpers and I started calling them my minions-in-training. They demanded a button for that, so I delivered.

And finally, I made this graphic (and then made a whole bunch of buttons) to advertise the podcast I host with my best friend (yes, the same one from all the stories above), then I give these buttons out to random strangers that exhibit geekery in public:

PS If any of you want to take any of the button graphics -- the Team Edward/Team Jacob ones, or whatever, feel free!
