Crochet + Animals = Safe for baby?
Aug. 12th, 2008 05:59 pm Okay, so.
Two very close family friends are preggers. Sex of the babies so far unknown, but that's not my gifting problem.
I want to crochet baby blankets for the soon-to-be-born children, buuutttt... I live in a house full of animal hair. And I mean full. One giant shedding dog, and two giant shedding-so-much-I'm surprised-they're-not-balding cats. And I'm terrified that I'm going to crochet these blankets, gift them, and then one or both of the kids is going to turn out to have been born with hideous animal allergies and that I'll be responsible for some sort of terrible reaction.
What can I do? I can't really bring and store my projects anywhere else, as crocheting in graduate school classes is somewhat frowned upon (and by somewhat, I mean forbidden). Also, work wise, I suppose I could bring it with me, but I'd never get any work on it done there. And I mean never.
Is this something I should worry about? Because it seems to me like a valid concern, but then again, I'm a 21 year old academic whose last interaction with an infant was 18 years ago when my brother was born, so who knows? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
