I used a pattern I got from Stitch Boy. I enlarged it a bit too big and had to cut down the garment quite a bit after the initial fitting.

I bought the hot pink faux-snakeskin print spandex at JoAnns fabrics. It was in the $1.99/yard fabric. I bought the whole bolt so I got an additional discount on the last 3/4 of a yard. I have enough to make myself a swimsuit (as soon as I figure out making bras) and one for our daughter.

If you can look past the hot pink snakeskin fabric, I think these shorts actually look pretty good on the Husband. I have some black spandex so I may make him a black pair that he can wear to the pool on a more regular basis.
