So this project was from quite a few months ago. I was in dire need to put together a going-away present for my cousin who was going to college. She was moving a few hours away from home and I wanted to give her something really special- so I was leaning toward the home-made gift route. (I also knew that her parents were going to buy her EVERYTHING she needed, and she's got a very particular sense of style, so I didn't want to get her any dorm room stuff.)

Anyways, I'm not the best with super awesome looking crafty things and had no idea what to get her. But then a lady I worked with mentioned a friend who made a get-well kit for her friend's daughter going away to college. PER-FECT!!!! (a) Nobody remembers to buy medicine and stuff like that when moving into a dorm room so I knew her mom would likely have forgotten it too. (b) I'm know as the care-taker type in my family so a gift like this from me would be quite appropriate. and (c) I knew I could make it cute AND functional. I also wanted to gift her a pic of her an I from ~16 years ago when she was 2 and I was 12.

After a trip to Target (and dropping $70 on stuff!) and a trip to Michaels for a box and stickers to decorate the box this is what I ended up with:

Using a photo box for the actual get-well box ended up being PERFECT! That way I could include the pic of her and I within her gift.

So here's what I got her (plus a heating/cooling pad thing not-pictured since it didn't fit in the box)

Can you believe I got ALLLLL that stuff in this photo box?!? Good thing I'm good at tetris...

Close-up of the decorations. I got these rhinestone crown and letter stickers from Michaels. She's a self-proclaimed princess so I knew she'd love it :)

Close-up of the photo of us. I'm the one on the right holding her as a baby. (The boys are our brothers) Please ignore the awkwardness of my early teens ;)

And a photo of us now. I'm on the right again. I'm not that old (I'm 28) but I feel old when I see how she's all growns up (and have so many memories of her as a little baby) They sure do grow up fast!!
