So much to share today!!
I have crafted quite a few nifty things in the past few months, but I haven't found the time to share them.
Until now.

This is from my personality project from October. I made the pages out of an old social psych textbook and scrapbooking paper. I used Mod Podge to paste the strips together and did two layers, coating each side in podge. I was really pleased with how they came out.

I used a three-hole punch and bound them with binder rings. While it seemed like a good idea at the time, I wouldn't do it again. because the rings were so large (which was an advantage when viewing the book), when the book got shuffled around from my place, to my professor and back again, many of the pages had been torn out at at least one ring (does that make any sense? It does in my head, at least).

I profiled four of my friends (two of of whom are my roommates) and did a photo juxtaposition of the image of them that is presented on facebook versus the way that I interpret their personality. They chose images of themselves (displayed on the left side of the page) and I chose images that either complimented or contrasted with their selected ones (displayed on the right).

Overall, it was a fun project that put me in touch with my crafty side again. My prof seemed to enjoy the creativity put into it, too. The only issue I had in making the book was the binder rings and with the pages that didn't have photos, I found that they stuck together despite the podge being quite dry.

For Halloween, I also made Wilma and Betty costumes for two of my roommates. They were made from oversized mens t-shirts and we took them in and altered the neckline and hem.

We tried desperately to find Barney and Fred that night, but had no luck.

I wish I had a better photo of the Wilma costume, but I have to say, the Betty one was my personal favourite.

I've also been making cassette tape wallets. I've given a few as birthday gifts and I am also making a bunch more for Christmas. They are sososo easy and terribly cute. I have yet to make one for myself, though. Perhaps after Christmas.

I gave this one as a birthday present. 'Faith' has since become the unofficial song of our friendship.

They fit so much. I could get my cell phone in it or my iPod nano as well. They don't do so well when you're carrying change, but I've seen a modified design made with a clasp from a coin purse. If I can get my hands on any of those clasps, I will for sure be trying that out.

And finally, Twilight came out not too long ago and my roommate and I went to see it on the night it was released. She had a Twilight t-shirt already and I wanted one that professed my deep affection for Edward. So I got to crafting and made this:

I used a plain black mens t-shirt and made a stencil of what I wanted on the shirt. It was easy to download the Twilight font and print off the text. I used wide, clear tape to MacGyver a sort-of lamination on the paper and cut everything out with a utility knife. I used dollar-store acrylic paint, which worked okay. I admit, the paint was a little runny so I added some Mod Podge to it. It helped thicken it up and it probably helped the paint stick to the shirt okay. It's cracked a little since I painted it, but I haven't washed it yet to see if it will stand up to that test. I also stenciled the back (but I have no photo - it says Twilight 10.21.08)

And just for fun... here are Keri and I standing with a Bella/Edward cutout at the theater.

Yes, we did get funny looks from onlookers. We didn't seem to care much, though.

I will make another big post after Christmas - there will be lots of handmade goodness.
Thanks for looking!!
