Hello!
My friends are having a massive toga party this weekend (about 200 people/live DJ/catering/etc) that will also include a Roman slave auction (we get to bid on our friends and have them henna-tattooed). There will also be a henna artist and some other debaucheries. This ain't going to be 'Animal House'!
So, because there's more on an effort onto this party, I have been told there's more to the costumes than bedsheet-cum-toga. And I really want to dress up too! But there's some issues at hand:
1) Party is in Midwest, and partially outside (at least for the 'auction' bit). It will be in the 30s and pretty darn cold.
2) Most Roman ladies did not have a punkish pixie haircut, like me. What should I do about that? A scarf? I want to avoid a wig, but might just out of desperation. But I like my hair and would like to incorporate it somehow. Maybe be a punk Roman goddess?
3) Finally, I'm thinking about making Queen Gorgo's dress from the movie '300' (I'm not a DeviantArt member, otherwise I would contact this artist for help on her awesome version!). Has anyone else made this dress, or something like it? What would you suggest? I refuse to buy the $80 one on Ebay, as I think it's not flow-y enough and the golden straps are just....no.
All help and advice would be loved!
