I've been searching all over for a nice guest book for my wedding and I have fallen flat. I came up with an idea though!
I was thinking about making my own, duh! I would like to make a book out of wood, so its good and sturdy and kinda cute and have it be a real wood finish (not cheap craft plywood) with a sturdy spine and thick ivory paper inside with 50 pages or so  inside. Each page having photo holders for polaroid photos and leaving space for little notes.
For the cover I would like to engrave or burn(I forgot the term for this) "guest book" and our names, place and date on the cover and some how a pressed flower or two from my bouquet(I'm using smaller flowers like German Chamomile and baby's breath..)

The only problem is I have no idea where to start.
My main questions are:
  1. Where can I get a solid wood book? Or how can I make one?
  2. How would I go about burning words into the cover? Is there a kind of wood I need specifically, and what kind of tools do I need?
  3. How will I get the flowers to stay on? Should I use some sort of enamel, what kind techniques should I use?

This is kind of out of the realm of the kind of crafts I'm familiar with and I really want it to look good and last forever and be special. So any help or advice would be very appreciated! Thank you!
