Every year, the theatre dept at my college has a huge party, where you drink a lot, and they give out their version of the Tony's, and it's a lot of fun and all of that.

Anyway. It always has a theme. This year's theme is "Never Never Land."

And people go in costume.

Which leads me to my point. I am having issue with my costume. I decided to be a mermaid, but right now it is turning into a sort of.. water nymph thing because the mermaid tail just didn't work out. Here is what I have right now:

I'm making this pattern (ignore my little comments):

I bought a light green silky fabric that I fell in love with. But I ran into a problem as I started to make the dress. The color of the fabric + the style makes me look like I'm the Statue of Liberty. Which is not the look I am going for.

Short of yelling at the fabric for being so Liberty-like, what can I do? I also have a turquoise fake natural silk fabric (one-half yards of it - think all fake nubby with fake imperfections, like natural silk), silver cord, silver holographic sequins on a string, this wonderful trim that is blue/green woven with a bit of tulle that looks sort of sea foamy... and I just discovered three yards of sea foam green crushed panne velvet hiding under my bed to play with too. I also possess an immense amount of long, wavy blonde-ish brown hair (that happens to have green tips, too), which I'm planning to wear down and sort of.. I don't know. mermaid-ish.

HELP! I need this by Saturday!
