A very dear friend came for a visit over the holidays and she brought a pair of mitts that her husband bought her for Christmas. They were made from recycled wool sweaters. I found them so adorable I had to try my hand at making a pair, so I went to the Thrift store and was in luck. I found an angora sleeveless sweater in the most beautiful light lime green and then a fleece top in the same colour to use as the liner for the mitts. So taday I got busy and made them. I washed the sweater to felt it, but because it had nylon in it as well, it did not shrink. But that's ok, because if they get soiled, they can be washed with no chance of shrinkage. I have enough material left that I want to make another pair. I will tweek the pattern a bit though as this one seemed a little 'off'. I also have another sweater that I felted today, that is a nice light brown cable knit and I will make a pair of mitts from it tomorrow. I think I will be making more of these to give as gifts, as the two that I am making will both be gifts for friends. The photo I took of them does not do justice to the colour, but anyway, here they are.
