This constantly seems to be an artists dilemma. How do I seal xx, when it has cc and vv problems with it?
I am planning on making some pintoid cameras, but instead of the usual altoid tin outside designs on all of them I want to personalize them by painting the outside. I've already scratched them up with some wet sand paper and after spraying a primer on them I will then paint them with acrylics.
But what could I use on top of the acrylic painting to protect them from dirt, grime, tape (over the pin hole and along the edges for a good seal) and the oils from fingers? Resin would be too difficult cause of the curved edges. And Krylon layers might too be too thin and wear off.
Also, does anyone know the name of this stuff: you mix it with oil paints to make it dry faster. It looks pinkish in the bottle but dries clear and hard. When I took a painting class people would paint a layer or two of this on top of their dried oil paintings for a nice shiny painting. Would this stuff work on top of already-dry acrylics? Would it crack and peel at the curved edges or from being touched so often?
