Bleaching a Print?
Apr. 10th, 2011 04:02 pmWe're getting married in Vegas in June, so I'm hunting for a simple casual doesn't-weigh-500-pounds-full-of-taffeta dress.
I tried one on at TJ Maxx today that I liked in terms of cut & style, but it's white with light blue polka dots. I hate polka dots.
I tried looking for it online (it was a Calvin Klein), and haven't found it, but found some similar. From what I can tell it's 95% cotton/95% spandex. The dots aren't woven into the fabric, they're printed on.
How much luck do you think I'd have trying to bleach them out to get a plain white? Or alternatively, do you think the dots would resist dye?
It was only $40, but $40 is still a lot for an experiment to not work out...
I'm still back and forth about making a dress, but I have two months, and one of them is already taken up with school and homework eating my spare crafting time.
