Okay, so I recently reconnected with an old friend via facebook (Would you believe in this day and age she has just NOW gotten a facebook? I made so much fun of her for that), and she invited me to her baby shower. I would love to make something for her, as I have for myt other two friends who have had kids this year, but really, the only craft that I'm any good at is cross stitching, and with my time limits on her shower, I doubt that I'll be able to get anything finished that I would be proud of.

I was thinking of maybe doing some sort of a gift basket for her and her husband-Like that had some nice wheat pasta and some of my home canned marinara sauce, some parmesan, and maybe some brownie mix or some cookies I've baked, etc. I mean, I don't have kids, but I feel certian the new mommy/pregnant wife isn't gonna feel like slaving over a hot stove when it is hot outside (we live in Georgia. Its already in the 90's here and the humidity is skyrocketing to the point to where all of my pregnant friends advised me that if I ever have kids, I should time it so that I am not pregnant during summer months, lol.), and maybe this dinner set would give her a nice night in with her husband either before the baby is born or right after. I thought about including some disposable bowls and forks too so that she doesn't even really have to do dishes either....But, here is my question: For all of you mommies out there-Were you offended by the taste of garlic or any of the aforementioned food items during your third trimester/as soon as you came home with baby?

Also, thinking of tossing in a pack of pacifiers so that maybe they could have a dinner in peace and quiet! I already have a nice pink bottle for them, as well as some formula that I picked up today, so baby would be included in this basket as well.

Oh, and just because I love these-Here are the shirts I got for her baby:

I got her the pink one, being as she is having a girl :)

And this was just too cute to pass up!

Sooo? Any advice? I mean, would you guys rather have a basket of "necessity" items, or a small keepsake for the baby's room? I would like to whip up both, but I know the way I procrastinate with cross stitch projects (It took me 6 weeks to finish one for my friend Jess's baby, and 4 weeks for my friend Brenda's baby), and I have about three weeks, plus a couple of days...
