I’m attempting to knit the 5 hour baby sweater, but I am stuck and I need some help.

I am stuck on Row 9 that says:

Row 9: K3, * K1, insert needle under next horizontal loop of row below (between sts) and knit this st. Repeat from * across, ending K4.(47 st).

So I knit 3, then I knit 1 more, then I stick the needle WHERE? I’ve tried a bunch of different thing and it ends up unraveling , or it seems more like a purl stitch then a knit stitch, and just not right at all.

I swear I’ve done those first 9 rows about 20 times.

Can anyone explain it to a newbie knitter where she can understand it?
