gothic bedroom delimma

My boyfriend has decided he wants a gothic bedroom. I want to go beyond painting it black, red, or purple--does anyone have any ideas? We actually have to money to go all out, we just don't know what to do yet. And we are both decent painters, so no suggestion would be too difficult to execute.
