Purple Rabid Fuzz
Aug. 9th, 2003 03:07 amI spent the other night doing a few crafty artistic things, including crafting the first of a series of special dreamcatchers. I 'documented' my progress from start to finish, so to speak, with pictures. I must say that I am very pleased with the results. Mom just loves it to death. She can't stop saying how unique it looks.
Uniqueness was my intention.
( The images don't do it the same justice seeing it in person does )
The beginning - I started out by wrapping the hoop with leather.
The fuzz begins - First layer of thread fabric, fuzzy.
Mega fuzz - This textured layer was a blend of feathery material and sparkly too.
Ribbon wrap - Harder to see in this image, I wrapped the colored ribbon on.
Texture closeup - I wrapped on many layers of various fabric types.
Webbing - The beginning of the web.
Webbing 2 - More progress on the web. You can see some of the rock chips I used.
The finished web - Many loops later, it's woven.
At this point, I had finished the main work on the hoop and webbing, and so it was time to add all the trimmings, so to speak. I used the various fabric materials I had wrapped the hoop with, to decorate it with dangles. I also used various natural stone chips.
Purple Fuzz - An overall look at the finished product. And a Gator Clip holding it up!
Closer - A better look at the details.
Fabric dangles and stone chips - Detailed view of the bottom portion.
More detail - Detailed look at the center/top portion.
Materials: Craft hoop, leather suede, hot glue gun, various fabric trim, craft wire, stone chips.
Stones used: Purple Amethyst, Red Garnet, Carnelian, Moonstone, Adventurine, Oriental Glass Beads
There you have it! It was lots of fun to make, and turned out a lot better than I had anticipated. Questions? Comments? Critique?
