another use for the old jeans

so me and my wallet had this odd relationship. i loved the inside, it was perfect for all the junk i have to carry around on the regular basis. but the outside was less than attractive. so i took the thing apart, took off the top layer of fabric and recovered it with a scrap of thin denim left over from converting my old jeans into a purse. the pink girrafe (his name is Hank) came from the cutest fabric ever that i found at Joanne's last night. i cut out the stars from the same fabric. now my wallet is happy and so am i :)

I'm making a Suggestion Box for work. It has to be waterproof (or at least partially). Does anyone have any suggestions for what materials I can use to make the actual box?

funking up a hat

I'm a hat fan, I've got a bunch of them. I'm going the wedding of my fiance's friend, and was figuring what I'd wear. I got a hat that is really well made on sale (since everyone's getting rid of the summer hats), but it was really plain. I was planning on wearing my skirt made from a reclaimed silk sari, that's cream and has big flowers on it, so I knew I wanted a cream-ish flower for on it. I'm not frightened of huge flowers on hats, so I got this lovely hydrangea that came with gorgeous leaves. I cannabalized a hat I had I disliked for the ribbon that was the right shade and width.



That's my grandmother modeling it for me. she was nice enough to wear the hat while I decided where exactly to affix the flower to.
