car seat covers
Jul. 6th, 2003 10:04 amOk. I'm (hopefully) about to be buying my dream car (or at least a used version of it).
It's a 98 VW Golf, white with sunroof.
The current owners that have it smoke. I don't. Aside from getting rid of the smell (I'll be trying that new FEbreeze for allergies, I can't stand the smell of the regular febreeze), this poses a problem in that there are a few cigarette burns- one on the drivers seat and then one on the interior cloth roof liner near the window. My plan is to put in some neat seat covers- but of course I can't find what I want... additionally, the back seat splits so that part of it can be folded down.
Has anyone made thier own car seat covers? Any advice, patterns, tips on the best material to use (I'm thinking a heavy cotton/cotton duck) or how to go about fitting them to the seats well? I am far from good at sewing, but I'll be recruiting my mom (who is) on this project.
