Ok. I'm (hopefully) about to be buying my dream car (or at least a used version of it).
It's a 98 VW Golf, white with sunroof.

The current owners that have it smoke. I don't. Aside from getting rid of the smell (I'll be trying that new FEbreeze for allergies, I can't stand the smell of the regular febreeze), this poses a problem in that there are a few cigarette burns- one on the drivers seat and then one on the interior cloth roof liner near the window. My plan is to put in some neat seat covers- but of course I can't find what I want... additionally, the back seat splits so that part of it can be folded down.

Has anyone made thier own car seat covers? Any advice, patterns, tips on the best material to use (I'm thinking a heavy cotton/cotton duck) or how to go about fitting them to the seats well? I am far from good at sewing, but I'll be recruiting my mom (who is) on this project.

There are a bunch of old window panes and wood scraps and such in a big dumpster in an apartment complex near me. Any idea what I can do with these? Some of the windows have glass, so I'm thinking some type of picture frame? I take a lot of pictures so I think I'd like to do something like that. The wood is kind of old, so I think I'd like to paint it. What kind of paint would I use? I've never really done anything like this before, so any advice is greatly appriciated. Thank you!!

Ok so remember a long time ago when I said my boyfriend makes cute little beads for me out of sea shells with his Dremmel?

Well I finally have pictures! I don't have a digital camera, and my webcam died on me. I was borrowing a digital camera to list some stuff on Ebay, and I thought I'd take this opportunity to show you guys my stuff.

The picture quality isn't wonderful, so bear with me.

Does anyone know any good sites for easy, yet gorgeous, jewelry to make, esp. earrings?
Rings and Things just didn't do it for me, I've searched on Google and haven't come up with much.
Thanks!

Does anyone know of a website where I could get directions to create beaded butterflies and flowers? (I checked the FAQ and was looking to make something a little simpler than this)

Hi, I'm new. I have two questions. First, I want to make a fountain and i'm not sure exactly what i need. but i want to make a huge one- like 6 feet tall. does anyone know how i'd go about it? something like this(exept i think i might use slate panels and hang them from copper tubing so the water runs over them):

also, I read the faq's on tee shirts and i didnt see anything. I have one that has really cute 3/4 sleeves with monkeys on them and i dont know what to do.

so anyways im a supie [playlot leader...think quasi camp councilor, im assigned a park for the summer, i get payed damned good cash, and i play with kids aged 4-12 from 9-12, and 1-4 monday through friday. its a great job.]
and even though i have recieved a craft mannual, i cant find a) projects where i wont have to buy more equipment than i already recieve from the city [haha! im a city employee *grins*] or b) that dont suck.

so im coming here because well, you people probably have better ideas than i do [they have to be simple, because i suck at all things crafty other than knitting, sewing, and doing uh small painting jobs involving finger paint]

materials i will have:
pipecleaners
googly eyes
feathers
construction paper
glue
paint [orange, green, and red]
really dumb beads that arent good for anything because they're smaller than seed beads.
paper plates [big and small]
paper bags
gimp [we're not supposed to make bracelets. why they give it to us then i dont know]
straws
popsicle sticks [not to be used for building houses. *snarls*]
styrofoam cups
string
embroydery floss
foamies [shapes made of foam]
woodies [shapes made of wood]
felt

im trying to stay away from my usual crafts which include paperplate masks, and paperbag puppets...

what's sad is this will be my 3rd year as a supie and i STILL cant come up with good ideas. but when half out craft mannual is bead buddy instructions, and yet they dont give us pony beads OR nylon string

any suggestions?
once i start fundraising i'll have some money to buy extra stuff, but untill i can..

i start work tomorrow. shoot me now. they stuck me in a park that has 12 year old boys with switchblades and rich bratty twerps who will make me want to claw my eyes out.
*whimpers*

but yeah. any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

My favorite skirt is one that I bought, and I was wondering how to go about making a pattern of it so I can make more with variations of length and whatnot, in differant fabrics.
The big question on my mind right now is how?!
Would I need to get special paper or what? I've heard of people making patterns out of paper bags...

Thanks in advance!

I finished up a few new bags this weekend. TECHNICALLY they aren't up on my site yet, because I intend on updating it either tonight or tomorrow, so you get to see them first.

mmm... SALTY! )

hey everyone! i'm new, but i love crafts and such.

I have a pair of low top navy blue chucks. I love my chucks, but if you haven't noticed, everyone has them now!

I'm not sure what to do. I see people with all different colored chucks and here I am with navy blue.

I'm kind of bored with them. I want to jazz 'em up, and I don't mean just changing the laces!

Do you have any ideas? (I checked FAQ and memories, already.)

I've got fabric paint, and I know how to sew (I don't know if i can sew on them). I just need to do something to make them special.

Firstly, thanks for all the rad tips for mix cd's, i spent the entire afternoon making covers and liner notes! :D

For those of you that like putting care packages together, do you have any special extras that you always like to include? Interesting ways of packaging them up? Handmade goodies you like to send? I'm just trying to think of ways to make my care packages a little bit different.

Thanks in advance, you guys rock!

how can simplicity justify charging 12.95 for a pattern to make purses?
i can buy a purse for that much and save all the effort
