This is your chance for some free advertising.

I'm writing two articles for a crafting blog. I wrote one about making soap for a mother's day present and the other is about cozies for kitchen appliances, like toasters.

WHAT I WANT:

-A nice, pretty, if somewhat artsy-ish looking photo of some kind of kitchen appliance in a cozy. Even more preferred if you have an army of cozied appliances. I will post the photo with the article and credit the photo and it's contents to you.

-Photos of homemade soap. IT MUST BE ROUND. I'd love it if they were stacked on top of one another or in a pyramid. Again, your photo and it's contents will be credited to you.

The catch? I need the photos tonight.

Please let me know in the comments if you're interested! Thanks!

I got the idea from a craftster user. I like this version of the original pattern better. So i gave it a go. I knit on and off since November. I have been distracted by other projects since knitting stockinette on the round can be pain sometimes..

Here you go... photos and details )

ooook so I need to make a pair of ruffle butt underoos for myself in black and fuchsia because I can't find any in that color combo. Anyone ever made ruffle butt panties before? Any thoughts? I figured I would just sew some lace on a pair of underwear but I dunno if that will work as well as I think it will.

I found this at quixoticals and I think it's pretty cool. Any of you have any clue as to how to build one? Would you build one? Am I the only one who gets excited when seeing this?

Help!

I'm visiting southern CA next week-- specifically around Ontario, Riverside, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, etc. I'm looking for really GREAT bead stores in the area, preferably mom & pop type shops where the shop owners will have truly unique supplies, particularly gemstones, lampwork beads, interesting focals, and other unique things.

I'm finding so *many* bead shops, and it's really hard to tell the difference between them all-- who specializes in what? Which shops are crap and which ones have great treasures? I'd love some help... and if you have recommendations for specific southern CA lj communities in which to ask this question, I'd love to know that too!

Thanks in advance, and here's a pic of my latest necklace!

I'm looking for a craft buddy in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area. I'm on disability and go to school, but now that the semester is ending, I have nothing but crafts to do. So I was wondering if anyone would like to hang out and do crafts together? I haven't really figured out "my craft" yet...I just dabble in a bunch of things until I find something that works. Please feel free to email me: ImagineBelieveBreathe@gmail.com put somewhere in the title something about crafts. :) thanks so much!

So I'm looking for some beading/jewelry making communities as this is my main interest. I've searched lj but all I can find are communities for selling, and I always see the same ads at every community I visit. Does anyone know of any others? They don't even have to be on lj, just something like craftgrrl where people can post and appreciate the work of others and get inspiration.

Sorry for the text only, school just ended so I should have more time for crafting soon. Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm alone on a Friday night...so, what else should I do but post on craftgrrl!?

Paper collage on a translucent polymer clay pendant.

more tree pendants, then a couple 50's/60's ones... )

That sums up the crafiness of my Thursday and Friday! :)

Ooo, and question: I'm wanting to make a hammock for my guinea pig - is there anyone on craftgrrl who know of a good pattern for a corner hammock? I want to sew one, not crochet (my piggy will eat it like it's his last meal)....thanks :)

Oooooh!  I didn't know we could look for crafting buddies here... anyone in the NYC area?  I'm in Astoria, if that helps.

I'm hoping that some of the creative minds here can help me out. I'm all set to to buy some fabric to make a valance for the window in my living room. But, I honestly don't know how I'm going to hang it... and so I can't really decide what kind of curtain to make. The problem is that my window is huge. It takes up nearly all of the wall and is 200 inches long -- that's 16 2/3 feet! It's awesome... but a curtain will make it even moreso and really dress up the room.

But where does one get hardware for a window that big? I'm totally cool with getting something custom done if that's what I need to do. I'm also handy enough that I can probably do something simple myself. I just... don't know what.

The second problem is the position of the window on the wall. It's right next to the ceiling, and on one side there is no wall next to it -- it's next to a dropped ceiling. I think the solution is going to be putting some kind of hardware in the ceiling and hanging the curtain right in front of the window. But I need a little help visualizing this and, again, finding the appropriate hardware.

See... the sewing is going to be the easy part! :)

Here are some pics so you know what I'm talking about.
the big window )

I'm coming up on a year since I bought my place in June. I'd really like to have curtains up by then! Any ideas? And if there is another community where I might get some more and/or better ideas, could someone point me? I'm not very familiar with the decorating communities.

Thanks for any ideas!
