I have about 5 yds of crushed, black, stretchy velvet, and I have NO idea what to do with it!

Whenever I look at it I can only think of Halloween vampire capes! :(

Anyone have ideas for something I can make out of this stuff that I can actually wear? Or is all hope lost, and should I discard it to the LARP costume pile? :P

Hey thanks so much everyone for your compliments on my Mad Hatter Hat. I'm so thrilled with how well it turned out.

The costume party was Friday night and I have a few photos of the whole costume.

A few more and larger pics behind the cut...

...we're all mad here... )

The post I made about the hat is here.

The jacket is a women's brocade suit jacket that I took the sleeves off of and left the edge raw. I made the choker out of some of the scrap sleeve material. It's just a long ruffle of material with a corded trim stitched across the center. I hand stitched a bit of chain onto it and hung one of the painted teacups from the end.

I bought the ruffly shirt and argyle tights from Walmart and I already had the boots, shorts, and the lacy tights I cut up to wear as sleeves. The "spats" on my boots are an old pair of long white gloves (from my High School prom over 10 years ago :p) that I cut up. It was last minute so I didn't get a chance to add any buttons to them.

This is for the Day of the Dead coming up soon.

Its made of felt and about 3 inches by 2 inches. Its my own design and was all hand stitched.
Its a patch and going to be sewn onto a bag or scarf...hopefully a scarf. :)
Hope you enjoy!

I apologize in advance for not posting pictures with this post. I came across a Clutch purse at a local thriftstore recently and was wondering what sort of fabric paint I could use. The fabric on the clutch looks like imitation silk and I am thinking about using some silver fabric paint and a leave stamp I found at my local craft store to add a one of a kind feel to the purse.  What fabric paint would be best to use?

What crafty charities do you participate in? I'd like to find a charity to donate handmade stuffed animals or knitted things to. I could use the practice, and I'm pretty sure there is someone out there who could use the products!

Long time reader, first time poster^_^  For my godson's birthday I wanted to get him a toy box (I never had one when I was little and always wanted one) - I got this second hand and wanted to spruce it up (click for bigger pics):

So a lick of paint and a new cover later and it now looks like this:

I'm glad to say Ben loved it^^    And I have tons of the fabric left over - I feel funky alien-covered cushions are in my future ^_^

Took me 3 days to make this key. It was inspired by rosaries- I love the long linking bits. Oxidized sterling, very dark garnet center, blood red garnet, onyx, freshwater pearls in two different shades of red have been clustered in the first bit of the necklace. 26" long with a 3" extender chain.
