Hi hi~ ^__^

New to the community!

I would like to share a pendant I wrapped out of a 4mm diameter stone. The wrapping is done with copper wires and the piece is photographed with a penny to show size comparison.

Thanks for viewing!

This is probably incredibly stupid, but I want to make cinnamon dough ornaments before Christmas and am wondering how far in advance I can make them without losing all that cinnamon goodnessy smell before Christmas day? I know, I know, I could google it or call my Grandma, since I have HER recipe, but it's so early I don't think I can be a real person over the phone yet & I was already signed into lj...so, anyone have a clue?

Thanks in advance!!

I've become enamored with a type of ribbon, but my google-fu is failing me! I can't find it anywhere. But, I think the problem lies in me not knowing the proper term for it.

Can anyone tell me the name of this ribbon? I searched for a number of things and nothing came up with ribbon like that.

Found! It's called Jacquard ribbon. Thanks a bunch, ladies :3

I've been on a sewing binge lately! I take the week after Thanksgiving off every year, and I think this has been my most productive week ever!

I made and photographed a whole bunch of new bags ... and I just realized that most of them are nautical/sea themed LOL Guess I need to get cracking on some non-nautical bags?

I'm working on some cupcake bags, so hopefully I will be able to share those with you too :D

This came from someone in my family, I think one of my aunts. That isn't important...here's the recipe I promised to post after I got out of class tonight!!

1 1/2c ground cinnamon
1c applesauce
1/3c white school glue

Mix all, knead until it is a firm "clay." Chill 30 minutes. Dust cookie mold lightly with cinnamon(or cutter). Break off a piece of dough, press into mold. If using cutters, roll out first. If dough is sticky, dust hands/surface with cinnamon. Hold mold perpendicular to hard/flat surface& tap on side until clay begins to fall out of mold. Carefully peel out of mold & place on flat surface. Use a plastic straw to cut out a place for hanging. Place on non-stick cooling rack and allow to dry for 5 hours.

Oh, and thanks again to everyone who commented on my question post, I appreciate it!! We always made salt dough ornaments, never these because the salt dough ones were more fun for us kiddos to paint :)

What the heck do you do with holiday fabric? When I was growing up, my favorite movie ever was Here Comes Peter Cottontail (the 70s Rankin and Bass one) and I would watch it all year round. I didn't understand the concept of enjoying a movie/product/whatever for only a certain part of the year. That still doesn't make any sense to me! However, I found the cutest holiday/seasonal fabric for real cheap, and I couldn't resist. Now I have no idea what to do with them, but I feel like I need to find a use quick before the season runs out.

skiing polar bears, little owls with hats and scarves, and chihuahua fabric!
Placemats? A tree skirt? Those have been options, but I'd need to get way more fabric (and different fabrics, too). I bought 1 yd in each, so I'd like to just use what I already have.
You guys had so many good ideas for leather (which, by the way, I learned there is no way my machine can sew leather gloves, but at least I gave it a good try!), so I figured I'd ask again.

Gift ideas!

Because I love each and everyone of you creative people!

1. For Christmas I'm bought my big sister (who is 23) a gift certificate for 4 gymnastics classes. Our parents couldn't afford to send her when we were kids (and she always talks about how she wishes she'd been able to take them), so I'm sending her now! :) I picked up the gift certificated today and it is A. HOT. MESS. It's on regular printer paper and is covered with a bunch of poorly placed clip art from Windows 98'. I CAN'T present it to her like this. So, other than making her a much nicer gift certificate, what's a clever way to tell her what her gift is? I was thinking of buying her a little plastic model of a leaping person (IDK) and saying, "Soon you'll be that flexible!" LOL. I know. That's awful. Any ideas?

2. I know a couple that's expecting a baby! I'm really excited because these are the first co-workers I've had since I've been in the "real job" world who are expecting! The baby isn't due til next August/September, but I want to make them something for Christmas. My first thought was picture frames, then I thought that seemed too...aged? They're a young couple (27 & 28). I can't knit (although my soon to be gymnast sister is a whiz at all things yarn) and can barely sew, but I'm crazy with a glue gun/beads/fabrics/wax/coloring in the lines! :D Thoughts on what I could make them? I ALSO BAKE!
