I am interested in learning how to paint on mirrors. I have seen some tutorials online, but I'd love to find a book on various techniques. Has anyone ever tried this and if so, do you have any book reccomendations?

Thanks! You guys rock my socks off!

Hello! I'm in the market for a sewing machine. I'd be using it to make clothes, but not in a mass production kind of way. Just a piece or two a month for myself, and I'd be interested in getting into quilting at some point.

I don't need anything overly complicated, although one feature that I've seen on the machines that I've been looking at is the automatic button hole maker, which sounds useful. Any thoughts?

I took a class and we learned on the Jenome Sewist 625e, which I really like but can't afford. I think that I'm looking in the $250 range right now. I'm not sure if that's a reasonable amount of money to expect to pay for a decent machine. Is it?

Mickey, you take me by the heart when you take me by the hand.

My younger sister Jolene went with me thrifting this weekend and I found a turtle neck in a pattern I couldn't pass up! Vintage Mickey & Co!
I knew I could turn it into something cute, so I decided to make it into a Cardigan!

Go Mickey!

The close up is just precious...

Every year our library does a big Halloween party for the kids. I'm the head of the decorating team and this year we decided to make a Haunted House display. We have limited funds (libraries are getting their funds slashed all across the nation) and only what we can get out of the trash to recycle but we did an awesome Haunted House this year. It's made from a box a TV stand came in, some cardboard Pier1 donated and the packing stuff - which made great shutters. It stands about 5 feet tall and has a light inside.

Haunted House

This pix is a little lighter but you can see the garden trellis we painted as a fence and the bones strewn around. Spooky!! We also have 3 large plastic skeletons and to make them go further in the decorating we took them all apart and hung them from the ceiling.

Haunted House

We never throw out anything we can recycle.
