Sewn phone case.
Mar. 5th, 2011 01:49 pmI made a case for my phone today using this tutorial and tailoring it to fit the dimensions of my own phone, which is a Motorola Milestone XT720.

The fabric is a houndstooth linen from South Korea and a blue felt lining. The applique is from a company called ToyoLink, purchased at Powell's in Portland Oregon a few years ago. I was waiting for the right project to use it with, and I finally found it!

Fedora pattern
Mar. 5th, 2011 06:25 pmI would like to sew a fedora, but I can't seem to find a pattern. Can any of you crafty ladies help? I don't mind if I have to buy it, but all I've found are either crochet or felting pattern, no sewing.
this dresser is too plain!
Mar. 5th, 2011 07:55 pmHello!
I'm looking for some crafty opinions on what to do with my dresser and nightstand. These have gone from unfinished to white to part green and part blue back to white again. Regardless of the picture tint, they're both just plain eggshell color. Although I like the fact that they blend in with my (apartment) white walls, they're so incredibly boring. I love all kinds of dressers so I'm pretty open to ideas, I just can't figure out which would look best since the dresser is such a large object- 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide.
I love solid colored pieces, especially in soft, muted, pastel shades. I also love when the face of the drawers have a bold wallpaper type print on it and everything else is solid. Would either of these look good or would it just look bulky and too busy? As you can see, there are no borders between the drawers but they do have the angle on each edge so maybe that could serve as the border? The colors in my bedroom, although it's small touches here and there with the biggest thing being my curtains, are royal purple and turquoise. I also have a hand made, wood and fabric, black and white damask picture that is on the walls as well. I considered just painting them black but am worried it'll make them seem super huge and an eyesore on the wall.
So please, if you have any ideas on how to transform these two pieces into something cute and girly and less "this thing is so functional and amazing on storage that I can't rid of it and get a normal vanity instead", then I would love to hear them! I appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you :)
